Nicola Baldan and Eric Scalvini share Misano pole positions

Pit Lane Competizioni’s Nicola Baldan and MM Motorsport’s Eric Scalvini took pole position for the first and second race respectively at Misano Adriatico. The Honda driver managed to get pole position off his rival in the second qualifying just under the flag.

Baldan took pole position in a hard-fought first session, emerging one tenth faster than Scalvini and a further tenth quicker than Opel’s Kevin Giacon. Plamen Kralev was fourth in his Audi RS 3 LMS after having been fastest in the first free practice session.

Andrea Argenti finished fifth in his SEAT ahead of stable-mate Giuseppe Montalbano. Massimo Gagliano was seventh in the sole Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR on track ahead of Audi’s Enrico Bettera and Max Mugelli. Alessandro Thellung completed the top ten in his BF Racing DSG-equipped SEAT León.

In the second session it looked like Baldan would encore in the second segment, but Scalvini managed a last-gasp lap which was almost four tenths faster than his rival’s. Mugelli was much faster in the second qualifying, finishing third ahead of fellow Audi driver Kralev.

Kevin Giacon went no further than fifth in his Opel, ahead of Andrea Argenti. BF Racing’s Matteo Bergonzini came seventh in his SEAT, ahead of Bettera, Montalbano and Gagliano, who completed the top ten.

The first race, with Baldan on pole position, is scheduled for tomorrow at 16:55 local time, and will last 25 minutes + 1 lap as usual. Race 2 will start at 11:25, with Scalvini on pole.
