Thomas Jäger to race with Kissling at the Salzburbring

Kissling Motorsport will run 23-year-old Austrian driver Thomas Jäger at the upcoming round of the TCR International Series at the Salzburgring, adding a third Opel Astra TCR to the grid.

Jäger is the first Austrian driver confirmed for the race, and says his main challenge will be adapting to front-wheel drive after racing primarily in single-seaters and BMW 235i Racing Cup cars to-date.

“It is going to be my first experience in a front-wheel drive racing car,” he said.

“We have tested the Astra TCR three weeks ago and I felt immediately at ease driving it. Now I will be focusing in doing my best in what is also my first race ever at the Salzburgring and in one of the most competitive touring car series in the world.”

Jäger is not to be confused with the 40-year-old German driver who competes in sports car racing, and drove in the inaugural WTCC season in 2005 for Hotfiel Sport.

“We are pleased to field a third Astra TCR alongside those run by our long-term customer team DG Sport Compétition,” said team principal Stefan Kissling. “We are very much looking forward to see how Thomas Jäger will perform. We have been impressed by him when he tested the car and decided to offer him the opportunity of driving the Astra TCR in an actual race meeting.“
