Jeff Smith released from intensive care after Croft incident

Jeff Smith has been released from intensive care at the James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough as he begins his recovery from the injuries he sustained in the multi-car BTCC incident at Croft.

The Eurotech Racing driver sustained multiple chest injuries, extensive shoulder injuries and concussion in the incident, and was classed as being in a ‘serious but stable condition’ in Sunday’s official medical update.

Smith, who has been visited by Triple Eight’s Aron Taylor-Smith after he returned to hospital for checks on his fractured leg, has now been moved to the trauma ward to begin the next stage of his recovery.

Motorbase driver Luke Davenport continues to be treated in the same hospital having suffered multiple chest injuries, lung damage, a broken right leg, broken pelvis, broken right arm and concussion.
