Nicola Baldan takes double pole position at Mugello

SEAT driver Nicola Baldan dominated the qualifying session at Mugello for the fourth round of the TCR Italy series, taking both pole positions and was the only driver to break the two-minute barrier in qualifying.

Baldan was fastest in the first part of qualifying session with a fastest lap time of 1:59.904, followed by the MM Motorsport Honda Civic TCR of Eric Scalvini. Plamen Kralev took his Audi RS 3 LMS to third position, ahead of Kevin Giacon’s Opel Astra.

Max Mugelli was fifth fastest in his Audi RS 3 LMS, followed by Max Gagliano’s Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR and Felice Tedeschi, making his return to Italian touring cars at the wheel of a Honda Civic TCR.

Baldan improved on previous best time to take pole position for Race 2, setting a time of 1:59.643, followed by Mugelli and Scalvini, seven-tenths off the pace.

Kralev was fourth ahead of Giacon. Gagliano followed, with the SEAT León TCRs of Vincenzo Montalbano and Max Chini in seventh and eight places.

Tedeschi was ninth, with the Honda of Finlay Crocker completing the top ten.

Both races take place on Sunday and run for 25 minutes plus one lap, with Race 1 scheduled for 11:25 and Race 2 for 17:55 CET.
