Nicola Baldan takes both poles as Fabrizio Giovanardi and Eric Scalvini hit trouble

Nicola Baldan took both pole positions at Vallelunga for the sixth event of the TCR Italy season. The SEAT driver will share the front row with Pit Lane Competizioni team-mate Max Mugelli in both races, with Davide Nardilli in third in the MM Motorsport Honda. Championship leader Eric Scalvini did not take part in the session due to an undisclosed issue.

Kevin Giacon also took fourth for both races, the Opel driver starting ahead of BF Motorsport’s Alessandro Thellung in the first race and Audi’s Carlotta Fedeli in Race 2. Alberto Viberti in the MM Motorsport Honda will start sixth in the first race, ahead of Fedeli, Massimiliano Gagliano’s Golf GTI TCR and Vincenzo Montalbano in the BF Motorsport SEAT. Lorenzo Baroni completed the top ten in the TCT Peugeot 308 MI16.

Fabrizio Giovanardi suffered from overheating issues, which prevented him from exploiting the full potential of his engine. The BF Motorsport driver will start from sixth, hoping to solve the problems which hampered both his and team-mate Alessandro Thellung’s qualifying session. The touring car ace will start ahead of Alberto Viberti and Massimiliano Gagliano. Giuseppe Montalbano will share the fifth row with Peugeot’s Giovanni Mancini.

The first race is scheduled for tomorrow at 16:10 local time.
