Brett Smith leads Eurotech team-mate Jack Goff in second practice
Brett Smith led the way in the second and final practice session at the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit, leading Eurotech Honda team-mate Jack Goff by just over a tenth of a second, with the Team Dynamics Honda of Gordon Shedden third.
Goff had led the way through most of the session in the Eurotech Racing Honda Civic, with Smith taking over with just over three minutes to go in the 40-minute session.
The practice was relatively uneventful, with just a few warnings for track limits infringements, with Team Dynamics driver Matt Simpson eventually black-flagged for multiple transgressions.
The two TOCA-engined Hondas were just ahead of the Honda-powered Civic Type R of Gordon Shedden, with Free Practice 1 pace-setter Adam Morgan fourth in the Ciceley Racing Mercedes-Benz A-Class.
Tom Ingram was fifth fastest in his Speedworks Toyota, followed by BTC Chevrolet driver Dave Newsham, Team HARD’s Jake Hill, with the two Team BMR Subarus of Ash Sutton and Jason Plato eighth and ninth.
Completing the top ten was Motorbase Performance driver Rory Butcher in the Ford Focus ST.
The other key championship protagonist, Colin Turkington, was 18th fastest, seven-tenths off the pace, and the second quickest of the West Surrey Racing BMWs, with team-mate Andrew Jordan just three places ahead.
