Jack Goff: “Brands is a circuit which puts a smile on your face”

Eurotech Racing’s Jack Goff says further wins are at the forefront of his mind after securing his third pole position of the season at Brands Hatch, continuing his exceptionally strong form of the second half of the BTCC season.

After running at the sharp end throughout practice, Goff put his Honda Civic Type-R on pole by 0.357 from Aiden Moffat’s Mercedes A-Class – the same gap between second and 15th on the grid.

The 26-year-old said the fabled Brands GP circuit was a track which all the drivers enjoy returning to, but insisted the most praise should go to his team.

Speaking to TouringCarTimes, Goff said: “I tend to go quite well around the Indy circuit and Brands GP, and pretty much all drivers on the grid look forward to coming back to Brands GP – it’s a circuit which puts a smile on your face. I look forward to every single lap out there.

“The Eurotech guys gave me a fantastic Type-R and I had the easy bit, I just steered it around the corners. It’s the hard work those guys put in which means I can go out there and get a third pole position.

“I’d be quite happy for the year to start like the second half of the year! We’re right at the sharp end now. I need to get my head down tomorrow and get another win for these guys.”

Goff goes into the last day of the season in sixth in the standings after a very strong second half of the year, with the potential to move forward yet further.

Asked if it has been his most consistent year in the championship, Goff said: “Yeah, definitely. It’s been really good, taking Croft out of the equation where we didn’t do qualifying, we didn’t score a single point that weekend. We also got taken out at Knockhill, and that’s 70 points which could put us in the top two.

“We need to make sure we’re out on the grid again next year so we can give it another go.”
