First order placed for Renault Megane TCR

Vukovic Motorsport has announced that it has received the first orders for the TCR-specification Renault Megane it is producing for the 2018 season.

The Swiss outfit revealed earlier this year that it has started work on the car with the permission of Renault, which is one of the manufacturers yet to be represented in TCR competition.

The BESA Group has become the first customer for the Renault, having placed two orders for cars that are due to appear in public for the first time at the Essen Motorshow in early December.

It has yet to be confirmed which series the Meganes will compete in when they take to the track for the first time.

“I am a true fan of what Milenko Vukovic is putting on the market and the Megane TCR, in this quality, is exactly what I was looking for,” BESA Group CEO Franjo Kovac said. “I want my team to perform at the very front and I do not want to make any compromises on quality and performance.

“I am absolutely convinced that the Megane TCR will establish itself as one of the top reference in the category. I can’t wait to collect my two cars in a few weeks’ time”.

Further cars are already in build with the team having seen ‘genuine interest’ from a number of additional parties since the announcement of the programme was made.

Development work on the Megane’s development engine, carried out by specialist company Lehmann Motorentechnik, has now been completed with ongoing dyno work now being undertaken ready for the first cars being delivered.

The car will be available in sprint spec for 130.000€ + VAT in line with the TCR cost cap.

“I am very proud to see how well the Megane TCR is being received,” team boss Milenko Vukovic said. “With the engine almost ready to come in the car, I now have all the elements in place to move forward. We have already started building further chassis while at the same time, we are preparing for our intensive winter testing programme.”
