Alex Rullo: ”The BTCC is a real contender for me”

Former Supercars championship driver Alex Rullo completed a BTCC test for Power Maxed Racing at Brands Hatch yesterday, with the 17-year-old eying a full-time drive in the British championship.

“I’ve got a lot to do now. The BTCC is a real contender for me. We need to go home and speak to our sponsors and see if they want to come on this journey with us. I really hope they do,” said Rullo.

The 17-year-old became the youngest ever Supercars driver when he made his debut in the Australian championship for Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport earlier this year and the team was pleased with his performance in the front-wheel driven Vauxhall Astra.

“He approached the day with a very mature and professional manner, successfully and quickly adapted his driving style to a FWD BTCC car. With the dry running in the afternoon he was quickly on the pace with very consistent lap times and great feedback for his experience. He did a very good job on the day,” said Martin Broadhurst, team manager of Power Maxed Racing.
