Jack Goff delighted with third straight pole

Jack Goff declared himself delighted after scoring his third successive BTCC pole in qualifying for the 2018 season opener at Brands Hatch.

The Eurotech driver took advantage of misfortune for debutant Dan Cammish to put his Honda Civic Type-R on top of the times in a tightly fought session that saw the entire grid covered by less than 1.2 seconds.

It means Goff will start his title challenge from the best position possible on race day and said he felt the performance had shown that Eurotech will be in the mix for top honours during the year ahead.

“It’s great to be on pole position, particularly as this is the session where everyone is running without weight onboard – so there can be no excuses,” he said. “It’s also good for us to get a pole for WIX in their first race as our title sponsor and it also proves a point to those people last year who said we were only quick because we had the Swindon engine under the bonnet.

“This is our first weekend running the Neil Brown unit and we’re still at the front so it shows we have a good package. To get three poles in a row is a great thing for me personally, and now we have to try and convert it into three good results on race day.

“Being at the front could well be crucial given how tight the times are but it is a long season and there are 30 races to run. We need to make sure we start the season well.”
