Jack Goff: “It’s all about keeping our nose clean”
Jack Goff says he is aiming to ‘keep his nose clean’ at Donington Park this weekend as he seeks to build on his solid start to the BTCC season.
The Eurotech Racing driver maintained his impressive qualifying form to line up on pole in the season opener at Brands Hatch and then took victory in the opening race of the year; the first of two races this season where all cars will run free of success ballast.
Although the drying conditions in race two then saw him slip back down the order on wet tyres, Goff was able to pick up solid points through the remainder of race day to sit second to Tom Ingram in the standings going into round two.
Goff qualified at the sharp end of the grid at the East Midlands circuit twelve months ago and will hope to build on a solid showing in the Media Day test last month, where he posted the seventh best time.
“We’re in a good position heading to Donington Park,” he said. “We got a win when no-one was running with ballast at Brands Hatch and then brought home some solid points in the other races in difficult conditions with the weather and with people trying to run each other off the road.
“I feel good going to Donington as it’s a circuit I like, and we went well there at Media Day. We’ll have ballast onboard, but we have run with ballast there before and know roughly where we are with the pace in the car.
“It should be okay as the car went there last year when we qualified in P2. We just have to keep our noses clean and try to pick up some strong points, because that is the key thing in this championship over the season as a whole.”
