Julien Briché says 308 Cup race last week helped him

Julien Briché came second in Race 2 at Spa-Francorchamps in his Peugeot 308TCR. The Frenchman was involved in two separate incidents with Jean-Karl Vernay and Kris Richard.

“He (Vernay) attacked me from too far back, I didn’t even see him to be honest,” said the JSB Compétition driver to TouringCarTimes. “I’ve heard he had a brake issue, so no problem with that. With (Kris) Richard, I think he just braked a little bit too late and he touched me, so I had to jump the chicane to avoid an incident.”

The Peugeot driver lost contact from the race winner at the last lap. He reveals he had vibrations in the car and just lost touch with the Hyundai i30 N TCR.

“After the touch when I cut the chicane I felt some vibrations, so I couldn’t pick up the rhythm again and I just lost contact with Richard.”

As the Frenchman was by far the fastest Peugeot in the field, he admits he was helped by a race he did at Spa last week in the 308 Cup, although he acknowledges the car is improving all the time.

“I think it’s a bit of both. I was here last week for the 308 Cup, which was a great help, but the car is making progress and I’m happy with that. I think the Peugeot was competitive here and we are surely making progress, but to be honest a lot depends on the BoP as well. We’ll see what happens with in Hungary.”
