TCR Europe Cup opener reaches double figures
A field of at least ten cars is set to contest the opening round of the new TCR Europe Cup at Spa, with a number of top line drivers having confirmed their place on the grid.
The two-round series will allow teams to run two drivers per car for double-header events at Spa and then at Catalunya in September, with most of the entries confirmed so far having gone down that route – although there are some drivers who are set to contest both races to maximise their track time.
Reigning TCR Europe champion Jenson Brickley will make his racing debut in the Honda Civic Type R FL5 with the RC2 Racing Team alongside Sergio López, with brothers Felipe and Víctor Fernández sharing the sister car.
A third Honda will also be present for father and son duo Leonel and Tiago Pernía, who will be run by the Squadra Martino outfit.
Two Cupra Leon VZ TCRs are currently named on the entry, the first of which will be be raced solo by Viktor Andersson at Monlau Motorsport, with Sandro Pelatti also running alone in his PMA Motorsport-run car.
The team will also field an Audi RS 3 LMS for Nicolas Taylor and Nicola Baldan, with two further Audis being entered by AIKOA Racing.
Giacomo Prandelli and Santiago Concepción will be on driving duties, with the latter sharing his car with countryman Rubén Fernández.
Two Hyundai Elantra N TCR cars round out the entry to this point, with Junesung and Junui Park sharing one car run by Solite Indigo Racing, and Alex Ley and Gabriele Covini joining forces for BRC Racing Team.
A further entry is expected before track action begins on Friday.
