Footage of bizarre crash between Eric Scalvini and Nicola Baldan surfaces

The crash which eliminated TCR Italy Touring Car Championship front-runners Eric Scalvini and Nicola Baldan from the Imola weekend has been published, showing Scalvini slamming his Hyundai i30 N TCR into Baldan’s on an out-lap.

The incident happened in the qualifying session, with Scalvini swerving left as he began to warm up his tyres, but Baldan began to move down his right-hand side, perhaps interpreting it as Scalvini letting him through,

Scalvini then slammed into the side of Baldan’s car, wiping out both cars. Scalvini was excluded from the event, while Baldan was unable to take part after he broke his collarbone. Although both are academic in respect of the two cars being unrepairable during the meeting.

2018 Imola, TCR Italy – Crash Baldan Scalvini

…this was probably the most unsual crash of the year in TCR. It happened during qualifying of TCR Italy at Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari di Imola. The Hyundai cars of Nicola Baldan and Eric Scalvini could not post a valid time as they were seriously damaged after a collision at T16 that prompted the red flag after only two minutes. Look at the crash from Larini's onboard camera.
