Dan Lloyd: “I’m absolutely over the moon” on TCR UK title success

Dan Lloyd has wrapped up the 2018 TCR UK championship in style with a lights-to-flag victory in treacherous conditions at Donington Park, leading his WestCoast Racing Volkswagen team-mate Andreas Backman by 17 seconds.

Lloyd’s win puts him 50 points clear of Pyro Motorsport’s Ollie Taylor, with 40 remaining ahead of the final race of the weekend at 16:55 BST today.

“It always looks easy when it’s like that, but it takes a lot of hard work and preparation,” said Lloyd to TouringCarTimes. “We had a mega car from the team. Every time it’s been wet this year we’ve had good pace, so that gave me a lot of confidence going into the race.

“To win the championship, I’m a little bit relieved and absolutely over the moon with the result. We went through a tough patch in the middle of the year when we had to carry 60kg of ballast, which is hard in any formula, and then a few technical issues, but we’ve come back here and showed our real pace.”
