Enrico Bettera scores pole position for season opener at Monza

Enrico Bettera romped to pole position for the 2019 TCR Italy Touring Car Championship opening round at Monza, outqualifying the Scuderia del Girosole Cupra TCR of Matteo Greco by over seven-tenths of a second in his Pit Lane Competizione Audi RS 3 LMS.

Only four cars were able to get within a second of Bettera’s time, with Klim Gavrilov third, also in an Audi RS 3 LMS, and the Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR of Max Mugelli fourth, driving for PRS Group.

Last year’s champion Salvatore Tavano qualified in fifth position in his Cupra TCR, with Jacopo Guidetti’s BF Motorsport Audi sixth ahead of Marco Pellegrini’s Target Competition Hyundai i30 N TCR, with Felix Wimmer eighth in his Wimmer Work Cupra TCR, and therefore scoring the reversed grid pole position for Race 2.

The first race is scheduled for 18:30 CET on Saturday.
