Julien Briché sure weekend is not over despite big FP2 crash

Julien Briché is confident he can take part in Saturday’s TCR Europe series qualifying at Spa-Francorchamps despite his Peugeot 308TCR sustaining heavy damage following his FP2 crash.

The JSB Compétition driver went off at the top of Raidillon just after the mid-point of the second practice session, after topping the morning times, bringing out the red flags.

The Frenchman escaped without injury but his car suffered heavy damage to the front-right hand side, as well as to the right-hand front and rear door panels.

Briché told TouringCarTimes: “I made a small mistake at the foot of Raidillon and I lost the car. It’s the nature of Spa, it’s a very nice circuit and everyone loves it but you can’t [take it for granted].

“The car was working very well but I clipped a bit of the kerb on the corner [Raidillon]. But we’ll be there for qualifying tomorrow.”

Despite the damage inflicted on his car, Briché – twice winner already this year – believes his team is able to repair the car ahead of tomorrow morning’s qualifying session.

“I have a very good team here and we will be there, no problem about that. That’s racing, the pace was there this morning and we will fight again tomorrow.”
