Dan Lloyd: “The pace is there for top ten in Spa Race 2”

Brutal Fish Racing Team’s Dan Lloyd is confident that he can repeat his Race 1 charge in Sunday’s second race, after just missing out on the top ten.

The reigning TCR UK champion started the opening race of the weekend from 18th on the grid, after his Q2 times were removed following a mix-up in qualifying.

Lloyd made the most of incidents in front of him and the race pace of his Honda Civic Type R FK8 TCR to finish 11th.

“We could have been P3 in qualifying, so nothing is that satisfying when you look at it that way, but it was OK,” Lloyd told TouringCarTimes.

“It was so disappointing what happened after qualifying, being put back to 18th but I’m still really happy with the lap time that I did and showing how well we could do on a circuit which isn’t favourable to the Honda.”

Despite ruing what could have been after qualifying, Lloyd believes points are a possibility with a similar charge in Race 2.

“We had good pace and I was probably a little bit too cautious in some areas. I think we had the potential to move up a bit more,” Lloyd added.

“I think we can do the same sort of recovery tomorrow as the pace should be better on new tyres. We had to use a new set in Q2, so we were left those for Race 1 and I definitely felt that.”
