Parts supply worry for Volkswagen Group teams at car-killer Oschersleben
There’s a concern for all the Volkswagen Group customer racing teams at the TCR Europe Touring Car Series meeting at Oschersleben, after the manufacturers’ entire supply of spare radiators has been consumed within just 24 hours.
Almost every car has broken a radiator over the course of practice and qualifying, with the Cupra of PCR Sport’s Davit Kajaia, the two WRT drivers Santiago Urrutia (Audi) and Maxime Potty (Volkswagen) the first casualties on Friday, the now the latest being WestCoast Racing’s Gianni Morbidelli, who broke his radiator in Q2, just after setting the second fastest time in Q1.
The teams have whatever spares they already hold, plus the spares the Volkswagen Group customer racing support truck has brought, but all the spares have already been taken up after the first sessions, forcing the teams to be extra careful over the kerbs for the remainder of the weekend.
