Motorbase confident for the future despite end of Shredded Wheat deal

Motorbase team boss David Bartrum says he is confident about the future of the Ford team despite confirming an end to a three-year title sponsorship deal with Shredded Wheat.

The current deal will draw to a close this weekend at Brands Hatch when the 2019 British Touring Car Championship season comes to an end, leaving Motorbase on the hunt for a new backer for 2020 and beyond.

Shredded Wheat came into the series at the start of 2017 after the team spent two years running without a title backer following the departure of Airwaves at the end of 2014.

“We have enjoyed a fantastic partnership with Shredded Wheat and I’m immensely proud to be able to look back on three years of shared success together,” Bartrum said. “It’s a testament to the hard work of everyone in the team that we have managed to attract and retain such huge brands over the years. Although we are sad to see Shredded Wheat leave, we are incredibly grateful to them for their support over the past three seasons.

“We’re 100% focused on ending the 2019 BTCC season on a high at our home circuit and to continue delivering the best possible results for our partners, and to give the Shredded Wheat brand a fitting farewell.

“I believe that we have one of the strongest packages in the BTCC. Our success over the years is in large part as a result of the partners that we have managed to attract and work with. I feel confident that we have everything in place to carry that proven sponsorship model into the years ahead.”
