Brutal Fish Racing plan three car line-up for 2020 TCR Europe

Brutal Fish Racing is planning to field three cars for next year’s TCR Europe series, according to the team’s owner and driver Martin Ryba.

The team has added another pair of Honda Civic Type R FK8 TCRs for the final round of the season at Monza, for Hong Kong driver Paul Ip Kung Ching and Australian Josh Burdon, to support the existing line-up of Ryba and Dan Lloyd.

Ryba told TouringCarTimes that the plans are to field a third car for the 2020 season, as the team looks to challenge for the teams’ championship in future.

“We want to expand to another car as I feel it is the right step. We are seeing how it will be by running four cars this weekend,” Ryba said.

“Our aim is to challenge for the title, so by adding a customer driver to two pro drivers will help us achieve that.”

The team, which previously had been a sole entry for Ryba last year, has enjoyed an up-turn in performance in 2019, with last season’s TCR UK champion Lloyd joining the squad for the Hockenheim round.

Lloyd has taken two victories so far this season, although only one on-the-road win in the second race at Barcelona last month.

Ryba is confident that, should he retain the services of Lloyd for 2020, the team can again be challenging at the front of the field.

“We’ve had a really good season this year, although Dan has been quite unlucky in some races. The red flag in qualifying – which stopped Lloyd from getting into Q2 – was a shame and then we had the pace to win at Hockenheim before more problems,” he said.

“So the potential has been there, but we have been really impressed with Dan this year.”
