Free tyres offered in new TCR Europe SIM series

The organisers of TCR Europe have confirmed that drivers taking part in the new SIM Racing series will be able to secure free tyres for use when the ‘real’ season gets underway.

At the end of each TCR Europe SIM Racing event, the highest scoring driver will be given two free Yokohama tyres, which can then be used in the corresponding event of the real season.

As a result, the highest scoring driver in round one will get two free tyres for round one of the real season, with the highest scoring driver in round two getting to use their free tyres in the second round of the real season, and so.

The top scorers in the final two rounds of the SIM Racing series will use their free tyres in the sixth round of TCR Europe. Should the top scoring driver in any round not be signed up for TCR Europe, then the free tyres will be awarded to the highest-scoring eligible driver.

“We had this idea of linking the results of the SIM Racing series to those of the actual championship to give more spice to the project,” Series promoter Paulo Ferreira said. “We submitted to the teams two or three different options that would have had a limited impact on the Qualifying results or the starting grid.

“However, they were all rejected and the teams unanimously preferred to have two free tyres amongst those that can be used during one event. We understood and accepted their position.”
