Nicolas Baert to drive Comtoyou Audi

Nicolas Baert, the son of team owner Jean-Michel, has been named as the first driver for Comtoyou Racing’s assault on the 2020 TCR Europe series.

Baert, who raced in Spanish F4 last season, will be at the wheel of an Audi RS 3 LMS sporting a special fan designed livery.

The teenager made his debut in TCR machinery in the recent 24 hour race at Portimão, where he shared an Audi with Tom Coronel and Nathanael Berthon.

“I am anxious to start the season and this new experience,” he said. “I have been testing the Audi RS 3 LMS on almost all the tracks we will be visiting this year and I feel perfectly comfortable with it and happy with my lap times.

“Coming from single-seaters, I clearly had to adjust my driving style and get familiar with a touring car, front-wheel drive and a completely different mass transfer, but the process went smoothly. My objectives for the season are to learn as much as possible and as fast as possible.

“I’d be happy if I can target Q2 and the points consistently and eventually finish in the top five.”
