Jake Hill: “We can go for silverware from there”

Jake Hill says his focus on Sunday will be on his first silverware of the BTCC season despite missing out on pole position at Brands Hatch.

Hill had topped both free practice sessions at the wheel of his MB Motorsport-run Honda Civic Type R and went into the half hour long session aiming to try and convert that speed into a first pole position.

As it was, Hill set his quickest lap of the weekend to date but had to settle for fourth on the grid after a session that saw the front two rows split by just 0.055secs, although that still leaves him well placed for race day.

“It’s not ideal as we had the pace to get pole and it’s a bit of a shame as I did all the sectors but just couldn’t piece them together,” he said. “However, our engine woes seem to be over and we can have a good race from here and go for some silverware.

“Donington last week was one of the worst weekends I have had in touring cars but we have come back here stronger and faster and this is where our season starts. I have to try and get the best start I can and will try to get Ollie [Jackson] early on and manage things from there.

“In the BTCC anything can happen so I have to get the best start possible and see what happens.”
