Julien Briché: “It was a very fair race”
Julien Briché was involved in a tough fight for the lead of the second TCR Europe series race at Monza with Pepe Oriola, a fight that he described as “very fair”.
“It was a very fair race. Unfortunately, I made a big mistake at the start. I stalled and don’t know why,” said Briché, who finished second behind Oriola.
The Peugeot 308TCR driver started seventh, one place behind Oriola, but dropped back at the start and had to fight hard to get back up.
“It was really a very bad start that made difficult to recover,” said Briché.
“However, eventually I finished second and battled with Pepe until the last few metres. It was fun and fair, though I’m definitely a bit disappointed, because without that mistake I could have won this race as well.”
The JSB Compétition has climbed to tenth place in the championship with his first and second place at Monza after a terrible start to the season.
“Now I hope we will continue on this form for the rest of the season, beginning from the next event in Barcelona,” said Briché.
