Colin Turkington delighted to bounce back from Croft disappointment

Colin Turkington admitted he was delighted to bounce back from the disappointment of Croft with a double win at Snetterton to reclaim the lead in the BTCC standings.

The WSR driver headed into the weekend sitting third behind Ash Sutton and Dan Cammish, but put his BMW on pole for the opening race of the weekend and duly led from start-to-finish to take a win that moved him to the head of the standings; level on points with Sutton but ahead on countback.

Turkington then won again in race two to extend his lead and was ahead of his title rivals in the final race before a clash ahead on the final race saw him end up in third spot.

It leaves the Northern Irishman nine points clear of Sutton heading into the season finale at Brands Hatch next month.

“It’s been a fantastic weekend and a great response to what happened at Croft last time out,” he said. “This has been a dream weekend and it feels nice to have made a comeback. Everyone makes mistakes and I learned from that and was determined to come here and score as many points as I could.

“Three podiums was unexpected with what happened at the end, and two wins and a P5 would have been great – but I’ll take every point I can at this stage of the season.

“Conditions have been tricky – even in race three when the temperatures dropped again. There hasn’t been a lot of grip this weekend and I expect there will be even less when we get to Brands Hatch but the 3 Series was strong and we will keep working hard to arrive at Brands as strong as we can.

“It’s nice to have points in the bag but whether it is better to lead into the final rounds is something we’ll have to wait and see on. It served me well to come to Snetterton a bit lighter but you have to take what you are given, and I relish the fight to come.”
