Alfa Romeo Giulia undergoes battery installation

The Alfa Romeo Giulia built up by Romeo Ferraris team for the inaugural PURE ETCR season is set to start on-track testing after the installation of the special battery was concluded.

The work was completed alongside Williams Advanced Engineering and Magalec, and will allow the Giulia to join the Hyundai Veloster and the CUPRA eRacer in taking to the track, with the first run for the car set to come at Vallelunga.

The team has already named Stefano Coletti as driver for the programme.

“The successful installation of the battery on the Giulia ETCR completed the long process of designing the car,” operations manager Michela Cerruti said. “It hasn’t been easy, as we have faced numerous obstacles of logistical nature, but our crews have performed a perfect job. I am personally quite happy because for a private manufacturer like ours, this is a gigantic step and I feel proud of the work and dedication of our staff.

“In truth, the most challenging part starts now, as we will have to fight again against larger companies who had fewer time constraints. By the way, as we’ve shown in the past, we are aware that we have the competence and the resources to race on a top level and look forward to the forthcoming weeks with great determination”.
