PURE ETCR performs first race simulations at Vallelunga

The PURE ETCR organisation performed a race weekend simulation at Vallelunga with cars from Cupra, Hyundai and Romeo Ferraris (Alfa Romeo).

The teams completed “battle races” using the 24 metre wide starting gate, including the use of push-to-pass systems and the full 500kW (670bhp) power mode.

Also utilised for the first time during the test was the hydrogen generators and chargers for the race cars.

Hyundai had Augusto Farfus, Jean-Karl Vernay and John Filippi on site while Stefano Coletti drove the Alfa Romeo for Romeo Ferraris. Cupra had drivers Mattias Ekström, Jordi Gené and Mikel Azcona on site.

“The Stress Test was a very intensive day for everyone involved and is the culmination of a lot of hard work by our organisation team as well as our partners, suppliers and competitors,” said Xavier Gavory, PURE ETCR series director.

“Just like a new race car requires a thorough test process to get it working in the best possible way, it was paramount to have this run-through to validate the processes we’ve planned – many of which are extremely innovative.

“To see cars from all three of our manufacturers released from the Starting Gate and constantly overtaking each other in intense battle simulation was a very satisfying moment. I can’t wait to see it all happen for real when we return to Vallelunga on June 18-20.”
