Ekström, Filippi and Webb claim Pool B victories in Spain

Zengo Motorsport driver Mattias Ekström, the Romeo Ferraris M1RA duo of Luca Filippi and Oliver Webb shared the victories in the PURE ETCR Pool B Round 2 battles at Motorland Aragon.

Ekström battled against John Filippi, driving a Hyundai Veloster N ETCR, with the Swede taking the lead at the start.

Ekström went wide on lap four, with Filippi closing the gap, but it wasn’t enough for the Frenchman to overtake the Swede. Ekström took the victory by 0.651 seconds.

The following battle was between Jean-Karl Vernay (Hyundai Veloster N ETCR) and Luca Filippi. But Vernay had to stop the car as he tried to leave the pit lane, with the Hyundai driver unable to take part in the heat due to a driveshaft issue.

Filippi completed the five laps on his own, with the Hyundai Motorsport N team left to repair the car that Vernay shares with Augusto Farfus.

Next on the track were Cupra driver Daniel Nagy and Alfa Romeo driver Olli Webb. Webb took the lead at the start, but Nagy attacked the Brit, taking the lead on lap two on the main straight.

The fight between both drivers continued until the last lap, with Nagy making his Cupra as wide as possible.

Webb launched himself on the inside on lap four, taking the lead, but with Nagy returning the favour three corners from the end. The young Hungarian went too deep, losing against Webb who took the victory by 0.849 seconds.

Next for the PURE ETCR field is the time trials, starting at 18:00 CEST today.
