Mikel Azcona wins Pool B battle in Hungary

Cupra driver Mikel Azcona came out on top in the PURE ETCR Pool B battle at the Hungaroring, beating Alfa Romeo Rodrigo Baptista in Battle 1.

Baptista claimed the lead at the start of Battle 1, but Azcona soon made a move for the lead at Turn 2 to claim the lead for the rest of that heat.

Hyundai driver Jean-Karl Vernay crossed the line first in Battle 2 ahead of Cupra driver Daniel Nagy.

But Vernay was handed a three-second penalty for exceeding the track limits, handing the victory to Nagy.

Romeo Ferraris driver Luca Filippi won Battle 3 ahead of Hyundai driver Tom Chilton.

Azcona has so far scored 27 points and is the sole driver able to claim the maximum 77 points as Augusto Farfus was penalised for his incident with Mattias Ekström in Pool A.
