Rodrigo Baptista and Mikel Azcona victorious in Pool B battles at Hungaroring

Alfa Romeo driver Rodrigo Baptista and Cupra driver Mikel Azcona were victorious in the Round 1 Pool B battles of the PURE ETCR round at the Hungaroring.

Romeo Ferraris driver Baptista took the lead at the start of Round 1 ahead of Cupra driver Daniel Nagy and Hyundai driver Tom Chilton.

Baptista was able to pull away in the lead while Nagy and Chilton fought hard for second place.

Chilton managed to get past Nagy at Turn 2 on the second lap, only for Nagy to switch lines and immediately re-pass him with some contact.

Chilton was close to the Hungarian during the final lap, but was unable to get past.

Baptista won the battle by six seconds ahead of Nagy and Baptista.

The second battle saw Luca Filippi taking the start ahead, only for Azcona to take an outside line of Turn 1 to claim the lead, with Jean-Karl Vernay in third.

Vernay managed to get past Filippi at Turn 2 on the first lap, with the Hyundai driver then chasing Azcona for the lead.

But Azcona was able to keep clear at the lead while Filippi launching a late dive on Vernay at the last corner of the last lap.

The two made contact, but Vernay emerged ahead to finish second, two seconds behind Azcona while Filippi had to settle for third.
