Mikel Azcona blasts around Hungaroring to take pole for Super Final B
Cupra Zengo X Motorsport driver Mikel Azcona set the fastest time of the weekend at the Hungaroring at the wheel of his Cupra e-Racer to claim pole position for the Super Final B.
Azcona was the first driver on the track, completing his flying lap in 2:26.309. The Spaniard’s lap time is the fastest of the PURE ETCR field at the Hungaroring this weekend.
Jean-Karl Vernay was the fifth driver to take to the track driving the Hyundai Veloster N ETCR, completing his lap with a time of 2:27.942.
His team-mate Tom Chilton was the last driver on the track, also with a Hyundai Veloster N ETCR, going wide in the second sector and set a lap time of 2:28.026 to qualify in third place.
Local hero Daniel Nagy was the second driver on track. The Hungarian attacked the kerbs harsly during his lap, setting a time of 2:28.095.
Luca Filippi took to the track for Romeo Ferraris, spun at Turn 1, and went wide in the second sector later.
The Italian set a lap time of 2:32.138, beating team-mate Rodrigo Baptista, with the Brazilian also spinning off the track in the second sector. Baptista managed to recover and completed his lap in 2:37.026, qualifying in last place.
The PURE ETCR returns to the track for the Super Final A at 14:00 CEST.
