Philipp Eng claims Hungaroring Super Final A victory

Romeo Ferraris driver Philipp Eng took his second victory in as many super finals, fending off Cupra Zengo X Motorsport’s Mattias Ekström at the Hungaroring.

Hyundai Motorsport N’s Augusto Farfus was marred with a technical issue in his Hyundai Veloster N ETCR and was unable to leave the garage in order to participate in the race.

At the start Eng took the lead ahead of Ekström (Cupra e-Racer) and team-mate at Romeo Ferraris Luigi Ferrara.

Jordi Gené of Zengo Motorsport overtook Hyundai Veloster N ETCR driver John Filippi to climb up to fourth place. Gené continued moving forward, overtaking Ferrara for third place on lap three.

Ekström kept the pressure over Eng during the whole race but couldn’t prevent the Austrian from claiming his second victory in the series, ahead of Ekström and Gené.

Ferrara finished in fourth place, with John Filippi completing the classification in fifth position.

The PURE ETCR returns to the track at 17:00 CEST for the Super Final B.
