Klim Gavrilov: “I still can improve more on Saturday”
Klim Gavrilov had a positive first day of the TCR Europe season finale weekend in Spain with second place in the second practice session and believes there is more to come.
The Russian has switched to a Cupra Leon Competición run by Volcano Motorsport for this weekend and raced an Audi RS 3 LMS of VRC-Team previously.
Gavrilov is currently placed 15th in the standings with a fourth place finish at the Slovakiaring as his best result this season.
“The championship is going bad for me, because we started the season working with a Russian team which hadn’t almost raced in TCR Europe, and there were a lot of mistakes and wrong setup issues, mainly due to the lack of testing and preparation before the races,” Gavrilov told TouringCarTimes.
“For the last race we thought about changing the car to one of a new generation, so Volcano gave us this new Cupra and we are doing the last race with this team and, maybe, next year we will see,” added the Russian.
Gavrilov was 0.286 behind Sami Taoufik in the second practice session at Barcelona and praised Volcano Motorsport: “The team is great and the car is really fast. I haven’t got used to it 100% yet, but it’s really good.”
“We will see tomorrow, but it feels I can go faster, so I’ll just try to do it tomorrow,” concluded Gavrilov.
