Adrien Tambay and Mattias Ekström heads first Pau-Ville practice sessions

The Cupra EKS duo of Adrien Tambay and Mattias Ekström topped the first two free practice sessions at Pau-Ville ahead of the first 2022 FIA ETCR season round.

Tambay and Tom Blomqvist claimed the first two positions in the Pool Fast free practice, with Tambay setting a best lap of 1:22.998, 0.046 seconds faster than Blomqvist.

Norbert Michelisz, driving a Hyundai Veloster N ETCR, was third fastest, 1.833 seconds off the pace, followed by Romeo Ferraris drivers Luca Filippi and Maxime Martin.

Jean-Karl Vernay of Hyundai Motorsport was sixth and last, 3.364 seconds from the top time.

Cupra EKS driver Ekström led the second free practice with a time of 1:23.199, followed by Hyundai Motorsport N driver Mikel Azcona, 0.671 seconds behind. Hyundai team-mate Kevin Ceccon was third.

Jordi Gené took the second Cupra e-Racer to fourth place, 0.834 seconds behind the reigning champion, with Romeo Ferraris drivers Giovanni Venturini and Bruno Spengler closing the classification.

The ETCR action at Pau resumes at 19:40 CEST for the night free practice sessions.
