Jean-Karl Vernay scores the Pool Fast pole position at Pau-Ville

Hyundai driver Jean-Karl Verna claimed pole position for the quarter-final of the Pool Fast qualifying session at the Pau-Ville circuit, host of the first round of the 2022 FIA ETCR season.

The session was split into two ten-minute sections, with the final result composed by the combination of the lap times from both sections.

Vernay set a best lap time of 1:21.935, with Cupra EKS drivers Adrien Tambay and Tom Blomqvist close behind, just four-hundredths of a second adrift. The top three drivers move towards the quarter final 1.

Maxime Martin took the Romeo Ferraris Giulia ETCR to fourth place ahead of Norbert Michelisz, driving the second Hyundai Veloster N ETCR in fifth.

Romeo Ferraris’ Luca Filippi closed the classification, over a second behind Vernay. The final three drivers qualify for the quarter final 2.

“I was quite happy when I saw the lap time I managed a very good lap,” said Vernay after the session. “I waited for the second time and it’s a good start for the weekend.”

The Pool Furious qualifying session takes place at 10:55 CEST.
