Josh Cook targets strong points from Brands race day

Josh Cook says he is hoping for a strong haul of points from race day at Brands Hatch after qualifying as ‘best of the rest’ behind the BMWs.

Cook heads into the second meeting of the BTCC season sitting fourth in the standings in his BTC Racing Honda and edged Tom Ingram for front-wheel drive honours in qualifying.

That leaves Cook firmly in the mix for race day and he admitted that it was vital to now try and score big points to take to Thruxton and a circuit where he is known to be an expert.

“That was the best we could achieve,” he said. “The rear wheel drive cars are quick round here so to be best of the rest and pip Ingram puts us in a good place for tomorrow.

“For us, we need three good points finishes tomorrow as we can’t afford a weekend where we don’t put a decent amount on the board. That is what we have to focus on and picking up a good score to take into circuits that favour both and the car a bit more.”
