Salvatore Tavano claims Misano pole position

Scuderia del Girasole driver Salvatore Tavano topped the TCR Italy qualifying session at Misano, host of the third round of the 2022 season.

Tavano set a best lap time of 1:41.871 behind the wheel of his Cupra, after having a lap time deleted for exceeding the track limits.

Matteo Poloni, driving an Audi RS 3 LMS, was second, 0.265 seconds behind Tavano, with Hyundai driver Cesare Brusa in third place, 0.338 seconds adrift.

Marco Iannotta qualified fourth, driving a Honda Civic Type R TCR, followed by Kevin Ceccon of Target Competititon, 0.581 seconds off the pace.

Audi driver Denis Babuin, who also had a lap time deleted because of track limits towards the end of the session, could only manage sixth position, with Niels Langeveld in seventh, 0.772 seconds behind Tavano.

Michele Imberti, driving a Hyundai i30 N TCR, rounded off the top eight.

The TCR Italy returns to the track for Race 1 on Saturday afternoon at 15:50 CEST.
