Recharging times amended due to hot conditions at Jarama

The recharging times between sessions in the FIA ETCR round at Jarama have been increased due to the unprecedented hot conditions at the Spanish track.

The qualifying sessions, running with the 500-kW top power setup, are split into two sessions that are normally separated by 15 minutes.

With Madrid suffering a heatwave, conditions at Jarama are expected to go over an air temperature of 40ºC, with the organisers increasing the mandatory recharging time to 30 minutes.

“We think that it would have been ok with the traditional recharging times,” Cupra EKS team principal Xavi Serra told TouringCarTimes. “But, as this weekend we are not so constrained with the timetable, we can take extra precautions.”

The conditions have also affected the optimal performance tyre window, with the strategy options for quarter finals, semi finals and the finals now wide open.
