Adrien Tambay and Bruno Spengler share Pool Fast semi final victories
CUPRA EKS driver Adrien Tambay and Romeo Ferraris’ Bruno Spengler took the FIA ETCR Pool Fast semi final victories on Sunday morning at Zolder.
Cupra drivers Tom Blomqvist and Adrien Tambay and Romeo Ferraris’ Giovanni Venturini lined up for the Pool Fast semi final 1.
At the start Tambay charged into the lead as Blomqvist was overtaken by Venturini for second place. The Briton would use power-up to retake second place in the middle of the lap.
Blomqvist used his remaining power up to close the gap to the leader in the last lap, but couldn’t prevent Tambay from winning ahead of Blomqvist and with Venturini in third place.
The Hyundai Motorsport N duo of Jean-Karl Vernay and Norbert Michelisz were next up for the second semi final of Pool Fast along with Romeo Ferraris’ Bruno Spengler.
Spengler claimed the lead at the start, with Michelisz locking the brakes to take second place at Turn 1, with Vernay in third.
Vernay overtook his team-mate for second place using power-up.
Spengler fended-off Vernay’s attacks to win the semi final 2, with Michelisz in third place.
“The start was a very deciding factor here, so that was great,” said Spengler after the race. “Afterwards we had to look in the mirror and defend, but it was a good race.”
The FIA ETCR returns to the track at 13:05 CEST for the Pool Furious semi finals.
