Maxime Martin: “Winning at home couldn’t be better”

Romeo Ferraris driver Maxime Martin had a strong weekend at his home round of the FIA ETCR at Zolder, becoming the king of the weekend after scoring the maximum points available.

Martin had to miss the first practice in his Pool Furious draw due to a battery issue in his Giulia ETCR, but quickly recovered.

“Winning here in my home race it’s fantastic, being the king of the weekend for the first time this year, here it’s just magic, in front of my family, awesome,” the Belgian said after the Pool Furious final. “We started the weekend badly, but we finish like this, cannot be better.”

Martin is also the first non-Cupra driver to become king of the weekend in the 2022 season, a momentum he hopes to continue as the championship heads to Italy in two weeks time.

“In Italy it will be amazing again, we’ve won here at my home race, now we have to win at home for the team,” added the Romeo Ferraris driver.

Martin was accompanied by his whole family during the weekend, an added bonus to his result and taking his kids to the podium: “Having them here couldn’t be better!”
