Maxime Martin receives time penalty for quarter final incident

Romeo Ferraris driver Maxime Martin received a time penalty for his incident with Hyundai Motorsport N’s Jean-Karl Vernay during the Pool Fast quarter final 2.

Martin had slotted into second place at the start, but a touch from Vernay allowed the Frenchman to overtake, with the Belgian trying to find a way past for the remainder of the race.

The Romeo Ferraris driver got to the inside of the Hyundai driver at Turn 12 on the final lap of the race with some contact, coming side-by-side and accelerating onto the final straight to take second place.

The stewards have deemed Martin responsible for an avoidable collision, handing the Belgian driver a five-second time-penalty.

After the application of the stewards decision, Vernay moves up to second place, with Martin down to third.
