Budget issues put Adam Shepherd out of Croft weekend

Adam Shepherd has revealed that he will miss the second meeting of the TCR UK series this weekend after failing to secure the budget needed to compete at Croft.

Shepherd returned to the series this season with Area Motorsport having inked a late deal ahead of the opening round at Snetterton, at which stage he revealed he only had the budget ‘for the first few rounds’.

A tough start to the campaign saw Shepherd miss out on a potential podium in the opening race after a tyre failure whilst running in the top three, which in turn impacted on race two as he was forced to start back in 18th on the grid.

A sixth-place finish in that second race left Shepherd in eleventh place in the standings ahead of the round, but he has now confirmed that he will not take part in the event and will work to try and return to action later in the campaign

“Unfortunately, we can’t get the total budget together to race this weekend at Croft in the next rounds of TCR UK,” he said.

“I’m gutted, as this will spell an end to any chance of the championship title. I’m hoping we can get some partners onboard, and push to be out for the next rounds later in the year.”
