TCR UK to introduce Gen 1 Cup

Organisers of the TCR UK Championship have announced the launch of a new Gen 1 Cup for the 2024 season.

As the name suggests, the new category will be open to teams and drivers using first generation TCR cars, which now run in their own class with seperate trophies awarded.

The original Audi RS3 LMS TCR, CUPRA TCR, Volkswagen Golf GTi TCR and Vauxhall Astra TCR – all of which have featured on the grid this season – are amongst the cars that will be eligible

“As the promoter and rights holder for all TCR activities in the UK, we’ve recognised now that there needs to be some changes going forward to help drivers be part of our platform and be recognised for their participation,” series boss Stewart Lines said.

“These changes will generate opportunities for people in older TCR cars who want to be a part of the TCR family and give them a chance to win a TCR championship in their own right.

“Next year’s package and associated support races will be the place to be in 2024.”
