Tom Ingram pleased to deliver pole after ‘a winter of hard work’

Tom Ingram shared his delight at scoring pole position at Donington Park following what he described as ‘a winter of hard work’ being carried out by his EXCELR8 Motorsport squad.

The Team BRISTOL STREET MOTORS driver was wheel-perfect throughout Saturday’s BTCC running at the Leicestershire venue as he topped the times in both practice sessions, before then going on to reign supreme in qualifying.

Running under the new ‘Quick Six’ format, the multi-part session saw the Hyundai i30 N driver battle challenging conditions in Q1 to progress before then cruising through Q2.

Making it into the pole position shootout, the 30-year-old traded fastest times with reigning champion Ash Sutton but ultimately came out on top to claim honours by a mere 0.051 seconds.

“It’s really great,” said Ingram. “It has been a winter of hard work to try and improve the car and everyone in the team has done an incredible job.

“We’ve left no stone unturned to make sure we can be as fast as we possibly can, we’ve come out fighting and started as we mean to go on. I’ve felt good about this weekend, excited and confident, the winter has gone extremely well and everything has gone to plan so far.”
