Jake Hill thrilled by last-gasp pole lap

Jake Hill shared his delight at claiming pole position for the weekend’s opening British Touring Car Championship contest at Snetterton, heaping praise on his Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport squad for their efforts.

The BMW 330e M Sport driver set the pace in the day’s opening practice session before then coming to the fore in a pulsating qualifying battle.

In what was a last-gasp fight for top spot, Hill produced a sensational lap to snatch pole at the death – which has now set him up for what could be a positive race day at the Norfolk venue.

“The perfect way to bounce back after Brands Hatch, I’m absolutely thrilled,” said Hill. “It’s a huge credit to all the guys behind me, they’ve just done an amazing job and the Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport BMW is in a really good place today.

“I was told I was fighting Josh (Cook), so I just thought let’s throw everything at it and see what happens. I was either going to be sixth or on pole and luckily it was the latter.

“This bodes well for race day. We’ve had a very good run here at Snetterton the last couple of years and let’s hope we can continue that tomorrow.”
