Santiago Urrutia completes Valencia triple with Race 3 victory
Geely Cyan Racing driver Santiago Urrutia became the first-ever driver to win three FIA TCR World Tour races in a row as he headed the field from lights to flag in the final race of the weekend in Valencia.
Urrutia took the lead from the pole position at the start ahead of team-mate Thed Björk and Cupra driver Aurélien Comte.
The French Cupra driver soon lost two places the Hyundai duo of Norbert Michelisz and Mikel Azcona.
Ma Qing Hua had a damaged front end from contact with team-mate Yann Ehrlacher during the first lap and lost ground, retiring to the pits at the end of lap four.
Jimmy Clairet overtook Julien Briché with plenty of wheel-banging for eighth position on lap five.
There was a growing gap between third-placed Michelisz and Azcona as the race progressed, with the Spaniard coming under fire from Cupra driver Comte.
Further back, Honda driver TCR Spain driver Sten-Dorian Piirimägi overtook SP Compétition’s Sandro Pelatti for tenth place on lap twelve.
The positions remained stable until the chequered flag, with Urrutia taking his third victory of the weekend ahead of Cyan Racing team-mate Björk in second place.
Michelisz allowed Azcona past to third at the final corner on the last lap.
Comte was a distant fifth ahead of Monlau Motorsport’s Viktor Andersson.
Reigning champion Ehrlacher drove a quiet race to finish seventh and scored his first points of the weekend ahead of Clairet. Briché and Piirimägi completed the top ten.
After the second round of the 2026 FIA TCR World Tour season, Urrutia leads the standings on 140 points, 20 ahead of Björk and 29 over Azcona.
The next round takes place at Paul Ricard in France on July 3-5.
