Piirimägi and Povlsen share TCR Spain victories at Navarra

ALM Motorsport Honda drivers Sten-Dorian Piirimägi and René Povlsen claimed a victory each in the penultimate TCR Spain round at Circuito de Navarra, while Viktor Andersson retained his championship lead.

Andersson had claimed pole position for the opening race ahead of Piirimägi and title rival Erik Zabala.

But Andersson and Zabala were involved in a first-lap incident that sent both drivers into the gravel, eventually recovering to sixth and seventh respectively.

Piirimägi took advantage to claim his first victory of the season, finishing over 16 seconds ahead of Vannin Motorsport Audi driver Luke Sargeant.

Manuel Fernandes initially finished third but was subsequently disqualified following a technical decision, promoting Povlsen to the final podium position.

The reversed-grid second race saw Povlsen take the lead at the start, while several incidents eliminated five drivers on the opening lap.

Among those retiring were Demir Eröge and Sargeant, whose collision prompted a lengthy safety car intervention.

Povlsen maintained his lead at the restart, while Andersson fought past Piirimägi to move into second position.

The championship leader closed in during the final laps, but Povlsen held on to claim his first TCR Spain victory by just 0.460 seconds.

Piirimägi completed the podium ahead of Zabala, securing a strong weekend for ALM Motorsport.

Andersson leaves Navarra with 233 points, holding a 35-point advantage over Piirimägi, while Zabala is a further two points behind in third.

The 2026 TCR Spain season concludes at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on November 6-8.
