Sten-Dorian Piirimägi takes TCR Spain pole in Valencia

ALM Motorsport’s Sten-Dorian Piirimägi claimed pole position in Valencia, host of the third round of the 2026 TCR Spain season.

The field took to the track with the high temperatures and tyre wear a concern.

“With this layout, we spend most of the lap turning left, which is an issue with uneven tyre temperature, so it’s easy to block and slide,” Audi’s Erik Zabala told TouringCarTimes ahead of the qualifying.

Piirimägi led most of the session, with Cupra’s Viktor Andersson and Zabala close behind.

The Estonian scored the pole position with a best lap time of 1:18.375, one-tenth quicker than Cupra’s Viktor Andersson. Zabala was third, half-a-second behind.

Enzo Gianfratti qualified in fourth position, 1.6 seconds off the pace, followed by fellow Cupra driver Sandro Pelatti.

Honda’s René Polvsen was sixth, followed by the Audis of Manuel Fernandes and Luke Sargeant.

Sebastian Quirno and Mathieu Casalonga completed the top ten.

The TCR Spain will contest Race 1 jointly with the TCR World Tour, with the start scheduled for 17:10 CEST.
