Viktor Andersson extends TCR Spain lead with double Valencia win
Monlau Motorsport driver Viktor Andersson (Cupra) went from strength to strength to claim his third TCR Spain victory of the season in the second and final Valencia race of the weekend, held jointly with the FIA TCR World Tour.
Sten-Dorian Piirimagi (Honda) started from the reverse grid pole position and took the overall lead at Turn 1, but dropped down the order after contact with FIA World Tour driver Julien Briché (Hyundai).
That promoted Andersson to the TCR Spain lead, followed by his team-mate Enzo Gianfratti and rival Cupra driver Sandro Pelatti.
The safety car came into action on lap four as Audi driver Manuel Fernandes spun out of the track after a contact from rival Audi driver Samuel Chaligne and got stuck on the gravel trap. Chaligne received a drive-through penalty for the contact.
The positions remained stable until the chequered flag, with Andersson winning the TCR Spain classification ahead of Gianfratti and Zabala.
Pelatti finished fourth ahead of René Polvsen and Piirimägi.
Busián Fontán finished seventh, while Chaligne rounded off the top eight.
After the race weekend in Valencia, Andersson leads the championship on 184 points, 24 ahead of Zabala and 46 over Piirimägi.
The next round of the 2026 TCR Spain season takes place at Navarra October 9-11.
